Are you brave enough to take on a renovation?

When we bought our property in 2006, the word "brave" was not on our mind. 

It was more like "excitement" or maybe even "adventure".

I remember, about 6 months after buying Belle, we met an older couple in Martha's Vineyard that stated with authority "you will either get divorced or stay together forever, after this experience". We of course blew off the comment ... but now years later, I get it.. 

You see, a full home renovation is like raising a child.  You and your partner agree sometimes, and you disagree with vengeance other times. You are overwhelmed with pride at moments... and struggle through moments of despair when you don't think you can continue on. But you do. 

When we started on this journey together we both knew the other was tough, however I think through the years demoing, building, and landscaping- we learned how tough the other really was... which somehow changed us. 

So I guess, when I think of someone asking me if we are "brave enough for a renovation"... all I can think is you don't know us very well if you are asking that question.
