It is time to clean the construction site

Belle Renovation Update

I think a full home renovation is a beautiful thing. Yes, it is messy and there is dust EVERYWHERE, but there is something enchanting about watching your home transform from one life to another.

Most people do NOT do what we are doing with Belle. Most 'normal' people renovate just a kitchen or a bathroom at one time... NEVER 3 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms, a kitchen, dining room, library and the family room all at one time.

While I have not blogged for a few weeks, our superheroes have been hard at work transforming Belle and bringing her into this century! The drywall has been hung with care and the taping-plaster-master has arrived!

Now one of our biggest challenges is that we have to get EVERYTHING out of the house... and I mean everything. Every last tool, measuring tape, and old board.

So as I walked thru Belle thinking about this daunting task I decided to photograph the moment... since it will never be "this" ever again.

I don't see a mess when I look at these photos... instead I see a journey.

There is something thrilling and also something sad about this coming to an end.

On one hand, it is all we have worked towards for almost 10 years and it will be wonderful to have completed it. However at the same time, once Belle is the beautiful princess she was always meant to be..... it will be over.

In the coming week EVERYTHING will be out of the house and then the final process starts:  floors will be sanded, walls painted, kitchen and bathrooms installed, and light fixtures hung.

And then she will be finished (I am guessing in about 6 weeks).

But in my mind I will remember this part... with a smile.
